Usher Ministry

At Bethel Baptist Church, the Ushers Ministry fulfills an essential role in the Worship experience. Ushers represent the Church in a very visible way as door-keepers, greeting the wearying of the world into the sanctuary. Most often an Usher is the first person a worshipper encounters which highlights the importance of the role the Usher plays in the worship experience. Psalms 84-10 says: "For a day in thy courts is better than a thousand outside. I'd rather be a door-keeper in the house of God, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness."

Ushers are responsible for making members of the congregation and visitors feel comfortable; and more importantly assist the Pastor in providing spiritual dignity to the worship service. Ushers help set the tone in preparation for the worship service, as well as maintain the smooth operation throughout the service. "Let all things be done decently and in order" (1 Corinthians 14:40).

Ushering is an opportunity to serve God by serving God's people and to actively and faithfully participate in the Church service. "Serve wholeheartedly, as if you were serving the Lord, not people" (Ephesians 6:7). Ushering provides a wonderful way for one to begin to grow and to continue to serve in a very important role for the Church.
